East of England branch

Bilingualism Matters East of England opened in Colchester in March 2018. The branch is hosted by the LaDeLi research centre at The University of Essex.

Branch aims

The branch provides information about bilingualism across the lifespan. Its specialist areas of expertise are:

  • Bilingualism from birth – simultaneous bilingual development
  • English as an Additional Language learners
  • Language Attrition in adults

Our aim is to work collaboratively with the Reading branch of Bilingualism Matters to provide advice services to parents of bilingual children, teachers, nursery staff, and speech language therapist to support bilingual development and maintenance as well as ensure best practice. Our outreach work is mainly set in London and East Anglia.
