After two years of research the Scottish results for our European project BILFAM (Let’s Become a Bilingual Family) was presented on Thursday the 15th of November at the Scottish Storytelling Centre in Edinburgh. This project emerged out of the incentive of promoting multiculturalism and multilingualism in society to better enable further generations to be citizens of the world. 125 families in 5 European countries (Italy, UK, Spain, Slovakia and Romania) were involved in this project, which started in 2010.

The Narrative Format methodology that was used is based on the adventures of the two main characters Hocus and Lotus the Dinocrocs, who are part crocodile, part dinosaur. They live happily in the park and experience great adventures with their other animal friends. This methodology helps children from 0 to 11 years to approach a new language. it is seen as a great innovative language learning approach designed for both the classroom and the family and has been demonstrated to be effective even in a situation of little linguistic knowledge.
